An Ear Swab for Culture and Sensitivity (C/S) is a diagnostic test used to identify bacterial or fungal infections in the ear, and to determine which antibiotics or antifungal agents will be most effective in treating the infection. The swab is collected from the ear canal or any ear discharge, and it is cultured to grow any pathogens present. Once pathogens are identified, the laboratory tests the sensitivity of the pathogens to different antibiotics or antifungal agents to guide treatment.
