The Dengue RNA by PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test is a molecular diagnostic test used to detect the genetic material (RNA) of the dengue virus in the blood. The test amplifies small amounts of viral RNA to detect the presence of the dengue virus, especially during the early stages of infection, even before the immune system has produced antibodies (IgM or IgG). The qualitative aspect of this test simply confirms whether or not dengue RNA is present in the sample, rather than quantifying the amount of viral RNA.
