The Dengue NS1 antigen test detects the NS1 protein, a non-structural protein produced by the dengue virus during the early stages of infection. This protein can be found in the blood during the first few days after infection, often before antibodies (IgM or IgG) are detectable. The NS1 antigen is a key indicator of acute dengue infection.
