The CA125 test measures the level of CA125, a protein that is found in higher amounts in the blood of some people with certain types of cancer, particularly ovarian cancer. CA125 is a tumor marker, meaning it can be used to help detect or monitor cancers, although it is not specific enough to diagnose cancer on its own. Elevated levels of CA125 can also be seen in benign conditions, making it a helpful but not definitive test.
