The Anti-HBc (Total) test detects both IgM and IgG antibodies against the Hepatitis B core antigen (HBcAg) produced by the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). It is primarily used to evaluate exposure to Hepatitis B and is important in determining the immune status and the stage of infection in individuals at risk for Hepatitis B virus infection.
