Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1) is a protein that plays an essential role in growth and development, particularly in the regulation of cell growth and differentiation. It is an important growth factor in the body and has insulin-like effects, hence the name “insulin-like.” IGF-1 is primarily produced in the liver in response to growth hormone (GH) secretion from the pituitary gland.
